Abstract

The four EPO data-bases with bibliographic patent data are described. All four are ON-LINE available for internal needs of the EPO, but so far only the European patent (application) register data base is available ON-LINE externally through EURONET. Several problems arising in providing external ON-LINE access to the other three data bases, as desired by the users, are set forth, and the views of the European Patent Office are presented. To provide solutions for these problems a special Working Group has been set up by the Administrative Council of the EPO, which will decide upon the matter in a future meeting.
