•The Global South sci-fi explore and define ethical frameworks that can impact future AI agenda.•The Global North technological and posthuman designs may learn from the Global South indegenous ethics-knowledge systems.•Futuristic world AI/technology may seek creative inspiration from the sci-fi of the Global South.
