Abstract

This paper selects survey data from the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) for 2017, 2019, and 2021 to explore the impact of digital penetration on residents' entrepreneurship. It is found that digitization helps promote residents' entrepreneurship; there is heterogeneity in the impact of digital penetration on the probability of entrepreneurship among residents with different levels of household wealth, and the positive effect of Internet use on the probability of entrepreneurship increases with the level of wealth, but the positive effect of mobile payment use is more significant for entrepreneurship among residents with low to medium levels of wealth distribution.
