Abstract

•LGBTQ+ Mongolian youth experience substantial self-conflict in discriminatory social settings.•Media, religion, and sex negativity contributed to feelings of fear and isolation among LGBTQ+ youth.•LGBTQ+ acceptance from family or friends had substantial impacts on generating positive emotions.
