Effects of free convection on collector efficiencies of solar air heaters

Abstract

Considerable improvement in collector efficiency of solar air heaters is obtained with air flowing over, instead of under, the absorbing plate. However, this leads to increasing the top loss. Therefore, an additional cover may be needed for this design.
