Desarrollo agro-industrial en Brasil e impacto sobre el PiB 1994-2003

Abstract

El presente trabajo discute los factores que impulsan y diferencian el crecimiento del Agronegócio en Brasil en los últimos años. Teniendo como punto de partida, la percepción de la nueva dinámica de inserción de la agricultura a la industria, que se caracteriza por un fenómeno de alcance mundial e irreversible, el objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar la evolución del segmento “agribusiness” brasileño en el contexto de esas transformaciones, en sus múltiples aspectos. Pone de manifiesto que la agricultura en Brasil debe ser vista como el centro dinámico dentro de este segmento; que es la cadena de actividades económicas que envuelven desde las actividades de producción agraria propiamente dichas(labranzas, ganadería, extracción vegetal), pasando por las que proveen a las primeras de insumos en las conexiones hacia atrás(“backward linkages”), y llegando a las relacionadas con el proceso agroindustrial y suporte al flujo de productos hasta a la mesa del consumidor final (“forward linkages”) . Se estima un modelo econométrico para el período 1994–2003 que analiza el impacto positivo del Agronegócio sobre la economía así como los factores que lo influencian.
