Verteilung von Vermögen und Einkommen in Deutschland: große Unterschiede nach Geschlecht und Alter

Abstract

Der langjährige stetige Anstieg der Vermögen und der daraus erzielten Kapitaleinkommen gewinnt zunehmend Einfluss auf die Struktur der verfügbaren Einkommen der privaten Haushalte. Diese Einkommen werden allerdings weiterhin überwiegend durch Erwerbseinkommen und die daraus abgeleiteten Transferzahlungen bestimmt. Die Pro-Kopf-Betrachtung der im Haushalt aggregierten Vermögensbestände zeigt, dass die Vermögen weit ungleicher verteilt sind als die bedarfsgewichteten Einkommen. Anders als die Einkommen werden in Deutschland Vermögen im Laufe des Lebens aufgebaut und steigen mit dem Alter; nur Personen in einem sehr hohen Alter weisen aufgrund ihrer Lebensgeschichte (Kohorteneffekt und Vermögensübertragungen) ein relativ niedriges Vermögen aus. Hohe Vermögen konzentrieren sich insgesamt gesehen auf ältere Paarhaushalte, höhere Schulden hingegen auf Einpersonenhaushalte jüngeren oder mittleren Alters. Eine ergänzende Analyse der individuellen Vermögensbestände offenbart unterschiedliche geschlechtsspezifische Muster: Insbesondere alleinerziehende Frauen verfügen über geringe Vermögen.
