Energiepreise in Bewegung

Abstract

Die Energiepreise sind in jüngster Zeit heftig gestiegen und damit zum Zankapfel wirtschaftspolitischer Auseinandersetzungen geworden. Dabei treffen mehrere Entwicklungen aufeinander: Turbulenzen auf dem internationalen Ölmarkt, ihre Auswirkungen auf andere Energiemärkte, umweltpolitisch motivierte Energieverteuerungen sowie Verzögerungen bei der Liberalisierung und Regulierung im Bereich der Strom- und Gasversorgung. Die internationalen Ölpreise haben im Oktober 2004 eine Rekordhöhe erreicht. Dieser Entwicklung folgen die Kohlenpreise und - einige Monate verzögert - die Gaspreise. Zudem sind die Energiepreise in Deutschland sowohl für private Haushalte als auch für industrielle Kunden im europäischen Vergleich relativ hoch. Während die Differenzen bei den Kraftstoffen fast ausschließlich durch höhere Steuern bedingt sind, haben sie bei Strom und Gas auch andere Ursachen.
