La participación en la vida cultural en Cartagena, 2008 - 2013

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar y analizar empíricamente los factores asociados a la decisión de participar en las actividades culturales de los habitantes de Cartagena de Indias entre 2008 y 2013. Se evalúan los efectos de un conjunto de variables del hogar, como su ubicación en el territorio, estatus socio-económico, presencia de ninos, anos de residencia, indicadores de pobreza objetiva y subjetiva, así como del entorno del mismo, capturado con la existencia de parques, variables objetivas de seguridad y capital social. Usando datos a nivel de hogares, los resultados se descomponen según la actividad que se asimile a un bien público (fiestas tradicionales y patrimonio inmueble) y aquellas que pasan por el mercado, como la asistencia a cine y la lectura de libros. El artículo contribuye a la literatura de la economía de la cultura en Colombia al anadir al enfoque tradicional de los determinantes de la participación cultural un conjunto de factores estructurales, con lo cual se captura el efecto del contexto y se facilitan insumos para la toma de decisiones que mejoren la focalización de las políticas culturales.
