La participación laboral de la mujer casada y su cónyuge en Colombia: Un enfoque de decisiones relacionadas

Abstract

Resumen: En este artículo se analizan los determinantes de la participación laboral de las mujeres casadas (casadas o en unión libre) y del cónyuge como una decisión familiar en Colombia. Se ha encontrado que las mujeres casadas presentan una mayor presión para participar en el mercado laboral que las mujeres en general. La educación es un factor importante que disminuye la brecha en las tasas de participación en la pareja. Las estimaciones econométricas, a partir de un modelo probit bivariante corregido por sesgo de selección, muestran que la decisión de la pareja de participar en el mercado laboral es interdependiente y se ve afectada en diferentes formas por la dotación de capital humano, la existencia de hijos en edad escolar, las condiciones económicas en el hogar, indicadores de demanda laboral y de características regionales.
