Desigualdad salarial asociada al uso de las TIC en México: un análisis por ocupaciones

Abstract

El documento muestra un conjunto de estimaciones econométricas, con el objetivo de probar que el uso de las tecnologías de la información (TIC) en el trabajo tiene implicaciones en las diferencias salariales en México. Se estimaron ecuaciones salariales por tipo de ocupación y se corrigió el sesgo de selección. Los resultados verifican la existencia de disparidad salarial a favor de los individuos con habilidades informáticas en el trabajo, así como para aquellos quienes tienen experiencia en el uso de una computadora, la magnitud del premio a la habilidad computacional varía dependiendo de la ocupación de la cual se trate. The document shows a set of econometric estimates to prove that the use of Information Technology (ICT) at work has implications for wage differentials in Mexico. Wage equations by occupation were estimated and the selection bias was corrected. The results verify that there is wage disparity for individuals with workrelated computer skills as well as for those who have experience using a computer. The amount that workers are remunerated based on their computer skills varies depending on the type of occupation in which they work.
