Abstract

Es ist heutzutage weithin akzeptiert, dass das Entwicklungsziel nicht nur im Erhöhen des Bruttoinlandsprodukts bestehen kann: Gefördert werden soll eine demokratische, nachhaltige und gerechte Entwicklung. Wenn dies das Ziel darstellt, so ist es nur natürlich, dass der Frage, wie sich die Lage der arbeitenden Bevölkerung im Zuge des Entwicklungsprozesses ändert, besonderes Augenmerk gilt. Dabei sollen nicht nur die Einkommen betrachtet werden, sondern auch zusätzliche Indikatoren wie Gesundheit und Sicherheit am Arbeitsplatz sowie die demokratische Mitwirkung im Betrieb und in der Gesellschaft. Die Rechte der Arbeitnehmerinnen sollten für eine entwicklungspolitische Institution wie die Weltbank eine zentrale Bedeutung haben.
