Kurz zum Klima: Der öffentliche Nahverkehr im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Der städtische Verkehr ist für die internationalen Bemühungen zur Minderung von Treibhausgasen von zunehmender Bedeutung. Zum einen ist der Verkehr insgesamt seit Längerem ein Sorgenkind der Klimapolitik. Der Verkehrssektor ist für etwa 13% der gesamten weltweiten Treibhausgasemissionen und für 23% der weltweiten energiebezogenen Treibhausgasemissionen verantwortlich. Zum anderen ist der städtische Verkehr auch deshalb von zunehmendem klimapolitischen Interesse, weil die in Städten lebende Bevölkerung an Bedeutung gewinnt. Während heute etwa jeder Zweite in einer Stadt wohnt, wird dieser Anteil bis 2050 auf vor­aussichtlich 70% ansteigen. Der Beitrag zeigt die unterschiedlichen Anteile des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs an allen motorisierten Personenkilometern in verschiedenen Städten weltweit sowie die CO2-Emissionen des Personenverkehrs in Städten pro Kopf und diskutiert die Bedingungen für eine effektive Förderung des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs.
