Metallhandwerk kann mit leichter Erholung rechnen

Abstract

Das Metallhandwerk zählt zu den großen Bereichen des deutschen Handwerks; in ihm sind die Metallbauer und die Feinwerkmechaniker sowie die Metall- und Glockengießer zusammengefasst. Da Metallbauer ihre Tätigkeiten vorwiegend für Bauwerke erbringen, ist der Handwerkszweig in besonderer Weise von der Entwicklung der Bauwirtschaft abhängig. Durch die seit vielen Jahren rückläufige Bautätigkeit hat sich daher auch die Lage dieser Branche stark verschlechtert und die Anzahl der Metallbaubetriebe abgenommen. Eine insgesamt günstigere Entwicklung verzeichnete in den vergangenen Jahren der Bereich der Feinwerkmechaniker, die primär als Zulieferer für größere industrielle Weiterverarbeiter tätig sind. Dennoch ist auch hier die Anzahl der Betriebe zurückgegangen. Durch die zu erwartende Stabilisierung der Bauwirtschaft und die sich abzeichnende Erholung der Industrieproduktion kann das Metallhandwerk aber wieder mit einem Umsatzzuwachs von knapp 1% im Jahr 2004 und wohl auch 2005 mit einer Aufwärtstendenz rechnen.
