Das Außenhandelspotenzial in der erweiterten Europäischen Union

Abstract

Der Beitrag stellt die Außenhandelsbeziehungen zwischen den 15 alten und den acht neuen mittel- und osteuropäischen Mitgliedern der Europäischen Union in den Mittelpunkt. Werden sie durch die EU-Osterweiterung zusätzliche Impulse erhalten? Diese Frage wird im Folgenden mit Hilfe des Gravitationsmodells, einem ökonometrischen Ansatz zur Erklärung der Höhe und der regionalen Struktur der Handelsströme, analysiert. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei die möglichen positiven Auswirkungen auf den Außenhandel aus der Anpassung des institutionellen Umfeldes in den neuen Mitgliedsländern an den Acquis Communautaire. Aufbauend auf den Schätzergebnissen werden zudem die Implikationen für den Außenhandel Deutschlands wie auch speziell Sachsens dargestellt.
