Abstract

The European Union regulation on artificial intelligence has garnered worldwide attention from both political and academic circles. The debate often overlooks the key role of harmonized European standards, which must adhere to the Charter of Human Rights. In this way, Europe aims to export its values globally, an objective that conflicts with international standards based on the freedom of trade. The European Court of Justice will play a crucial role in resolving this conflict.
