La re-territorialisation du développement agricole : le cas de l'agriculture périurbaine d'Angers

Abstract

In the areas around cities, growing conflict over land use as well as the emergence of local authority development policies are inducing farmers and their representatives to accept urban development as a major part of their future relationships with the land. Local communities aim to conceive and develop regional policies at the urban conurbation scale, which may include large areas devoted to agriculture. Hence farmers are becoming involved in dialogue with urban representatives. The analysis of these processes reveals a new and characteristic form of territorial agricultural development policy, that is being progressively defined by local farmers during their discussions with elected urban representatives in charge of land use policy.
