Abstract

This paper aims at assessing the outcome of multilateral surveillance of budgetary policies in the CEMAC member countries. The multilateral surveillance is a component of the vast program of economic reforms undertaken at the beginning of the 1990s as a response to the severe economic crisis faced by these countries in the 1980s. Analyses reveal that the results are globally satisfactory. However many challenges point out in the future and depend on various factors : the evolution of the international environment, the implementation of the reforms in other domains stated by the Treaty of CEMAC in 1994, namely in the financial and real sectors.
