Abstract

The New Economic Geography - better than it´s reputation. Economic geography often criticizes the New Economic Geography, but it does not take into account that the core-periphery-model of 1991 is only the initial one and new developments have been taken place since then. The article presents some thoughts about the relevance of this kind of regional economic concept and indicates how economic geography can benefit from the further advancements. Thus, the New Economic Geography should not be rejected before attempts to incorporate it into economic geography have been performed and empirical tests have been made to form a final opinion.
