Abstract

Against the increasing problems of school leavers with lower degrees to enter vocational training in recent years, schemes have gained relevance which seek to increase the youngsters’ firm-based practical experience. In this article it is analyzed how sustainable these schemes are with regard to the whole school-to-work transition. It is shown that schemes which seek to minimize discrediting processes by organizing long-lasting contact to firms are successful in integrating young people with a lower secondary degree into vocational training.
