Abstract

This article deals with the use of technology in the field of social service work. The use of technology and its conditions are examined empirically on the basis of elderly care. The mediation of technology delivered by professionals has shown to be a decisive factor in terms of the integration of technology into the service process. In the course of “technology-mediation”, various means of interaction work are performed to create the personal conditions which allow to combine, both spatially and temporally, the processes of handling technology and personal interaction. In this respect, “technology-mediation” turns out to become a functional extension of interaction work.
