Abstract

The literature regarding the relation between innovation and participation usually neglects the fact that the involvement of employees in innovation processes constitutes in itself an innovation. Participation as innovation encounters some specific barriers that cannot be overcome by participation. Prior to this problem and using a case study of a low-tech producer this article highlights some specific barriers regarding innovation of participation schemes. It then shows how employee surveys can contribute to surmount those barriers.
