Crisis? What Crisis? - Zur Situation der Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie

Abstract

In der deutschen Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie ist eine Debatte über die (angeblich) krisenhafte Situation des Faches entbrannt. Dies hat seinen Grund in der impliziten oder expliziten Forderung nach einer gesellschaftstheoretischen Fundierung des Fachs. In dem Artikel wird gezeigt, dass dieser Anspruch nicht mehr angemessen ist; zudem führt er dazu, die Verdienste der Forschung nicht ausreichend zu würdigen. Stattdessen wird für eine Beschränkung auf Theorien mittlerer Reichweite plädiert. Zugleich werden Überlegungen nach dem Gegenstandsbereich der Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie angestellt. Er besteht in der Analyse der Transformation von Arbeitskraft in Arbeit. Damit behandelt die Arbeits- und Industriesoziologie ein für die Entwicklung moderner Gesellschaften nach wie vor zentrales Untersuchungsfeld.
