Denkanstöße zum Diversity Management

Abstract

Das Konzept Diversity Management wurde in den achtziger Jahren in den USA als Reaktion auf demographische Veränderungen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt entwickelt. Inzwischen hat sich Diversity auch zu einem wichtigen Thema für Organisationen in Deutschland und anderen westlichen Ländern entwickelt. Obwohl das Konzept seit vielen Jahren angewendet wird, sind einige grundlegende Fragen offen geblieben. Dieser Beitrag analysiert und diskutiert mehrere Kernaussagen von Diversity Management. Er wagt einen Blick hinter die verwendete Metapher und die Machtverhältnisse rund um die Anwendung des Konzepts in Organisationen. Einige Prognosen und mögliche Wirkungen von Diversity Management bleiben fragwürdig. Wissenschaftler könnten durch verstärkte Forschungsaktivitäten zur Beantwortung einiger offener Fragen des sehr interessanten Konzepts beitragen.
