Industrielle Beziehungen, Entgelt und Arbeitszeit: Drei Branchen im deutsch-britischen Vergleich

Abstract

Die beiden Länder Deutschland und Großbritannien und die drei Branchen Druckindustrie, Metall- und Elektroindustrie sowie Einzelhandel vergleichend, fragt der Beitrag nach dem Einfluss der industriellen Beziehungen auf die Entgelt- und Arbeitszeitbestimmung. Nationale Differenzen der industriellen Beziehungen können die Unterschiede und Übereinstimmungen der Entgelt- und Arbeitszeitentwicklungen zwischen beiden Ländern nur zum Teil erklären. Insbesondere stärkere Entgeltzuwächse in Großbritannien sind dadurch kaum zu erklären. Es existieren sowohl nationale als auch branchenspezifische Handlungsmuster, die teilweise grenzüberschreitend institutionalisiert sind und die Entwicklungen von Entgelt und Arbeitszeit in beiden Ländern beeinflussen. Wir schlagen vor, Entgelt- und Arbeitszeitentwicklungen als durch „multiple Pfadabhängigkeiten“ geprägt zu denken.
