Creativity and local economic development: The role of synergy among different talents

The role of creativity in local economic development has been widely discussed. The evidence on this linkage is, however, mixed. This work tries to highlight the nexus by taking into consideration a new aspect, that is, the multidimensional nature of creativity and the potential synergic and complementary effects of creative talents of different nature. The merging of talents is, indeed, a source of original, complex and synergic ideas which are at the basis of the positive relation between creativity and local development. The work addresses this issue conceptually and proves the expectations through an empirical application on Italian provinces (NUTS 3). El papel de la creatividad en el desarrollo económico local se ha discutido ampliamente. Sin embargo, la evidencia sobre este vínculo es mixta. Este trabajo intenta resaltar este nexo teniendo en cuenta un nuevo aspecto, que es la naturaleza multidimensional de la creatividad y los posibles efectos sinérgicos y complementarios de los talentos creativos de diferente naturaleza. La fusión de talentos es, de hecho, una fuente de ideas originales, complejas y sinérgicas que forman la base de la relación positiva entre la creatividad y el desarrollo local. Este estudio aborda este tema conceptualmente y demuestra las expectativas mediante una aplicación empírica en provincias italianas (NUTS 3). 地方の経済発展におけるクリエイティビティの役割は、これまで広く議論されてきている。しかし、この連関に関するエビデンスは相反したものである。本稿では、クリエイティビティの多面性と、性質の異なるクリエイティブな才能のシナジー的かつ相互補完的な潜在的効果という新しい側面を考慮してその連関のつながりを明らかにする。実のところ、数ある才能を一つにすることが、クリエイティビティと地方の発展の正の関連性の根底をなす独創的で複雑かつシナジー的なアイデアの根源となる。この問題について概念的に取り組み、NUTS 3に属するイタリアの州で実証的な応用研究により仮説を検証する。
