Abstract

The article examines the role of foreign language competence in the professional training of Management specialty students. A review of research is carried out regarding the definition of the concept of foreign language (communicative) competence and the peculiarities of its formation in higher education students of non-linguistic specialties. It is determined that management students’ foreign language competence is an integral part of their professional competence and is manifested in the ability and readiness of future specialists to communicate in a foreign language in the professional sphere. The structure of foreign language competence is generalized as a set of interrelated components (motivational-value, cognitive-activity, and emotional-volitional), as well as key skills (linguistic, sociolinguistic, pragmatic, etc.). Methodological approaches to forming foreign language competence in future managers are outlined: a communicative-oriented approach, contextual learning with simulation of professional situations, integration of foreign language teaching with special subjects, and the use of interactive technologies. Emphasis is placed on the need to increase student motivation and to bring the learning process closer to real conditions of professional communication. It is concluded that the implementation of these methodological approaches will promote the effective development of professionally important foreign-language competences in management students.
