Efecto del cambio en los costos de transporte por carretera sobre el crecimiento regional colombiano

Abstract

El presente artículo parte del supuesto de que al disminuir los costos de transporte de una región, la ventaja comparativa de ésta sobre las demás regiones mejora, lo que conlleva a la especialización de las regiones y al cambio en las áreas de mercado, lo cual afecta el crecimiento regional. Con base en lo anterior, el objetivo en el presente artículo es determinar el efecto de los cambios en los costos de transporte de mercancías por carretera sobre el crecimiento regional colombiano; así, se encuentra que la disminución de los costos de transporte aumenta la especialización en los sectores agrario e industrial y que la especialización agraria afecta positivamente el crecimiento de este sector. Por el contrario, la especialización industrial no tiene efecto significativo sobre el crecimiento del PIB manufacturero.
