Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the commercialization of scientific research and patenting. The capacity of the market for patent applications for inventionshas been studied; the applications are considered an indicator of innovative economic development. Estimates are given for Russia to achieve fifth place in the world in terms of the number of applications for patents for inventions by 2024 following the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The subject of the article is an analysis of the patent activity of inventors in the fields of biology and medicine, as well as the successful implementation of such developments. An economic and legal analysis of aspects of patent law and commercialization of developments in this industry in Russia was carried out. Particular attention was devoted to organizational problems in patenting inventions based on research institutes and universities. The general goal of the study is to demonstrate the real effectiveness and state of commercialization of patents in the field of biology and medicine, as well as to identify the range of patenting problems that most inventors face. It has been proven that it is currently difficult for domestic inventors to occupy leading positions in the global market. The proposed adjustments to the process of patenting and obtaining copyright, including the fair remuneration mechanism, will create a favorable background for the commercialization of scientific developments.
