Abstract

The purpose of the article is to show the role and place of the Academy of Sciences in the strengthening of the Russian state in the context of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The objectives and plan of main activities for the preparation and celebration of the anniversary are considered. The views of Russian scientists on the national characteristics of science are analyzed. The projects of M. V. Lomonosov and D. I. Mendeleev to improve the activities of the Academy of Sciences are presented. It is noted that the celebration of its anniversaries is an important milestone in the life of the state and society. The main scientific directions of activity of the Academy of Sciences in the Russian Empire are considered. State traditions of celebrating the 50th anniversary, 100th anniversary, and 150th anniversary of the Academy of Sciences are covered in detail. It is concluded that the Russian Academy of Sciences, moving towards its 300th anniversary, continues the tradition of serving Science and the Fatherland and is actively involved in ensuring sustainable economic, social, and spiritual development and national security of Russia.
