Currently, the educational process of the university is being built taking into account the situation of competition in the labor market, therefore, the tasks of raising the cultural and cognitive level of students, completing the process of developing fine communication skills, as well as self-presentation skills are being put forward. It is at student age that an individual begins to take shape as an independent personality, for whom the process of self-actualization and self-realization, the disclosure of abilities and talents is important. Undoubtedly, society does not cease to need competent specialists who are ready not only to make serious decisions, but also to take responsibility for achieving their goals. All these personal qualities of a student form the essence of leadership potential, the revelation and development of which can be carried out in the educational process at the university. On this basis, the article describes the process of conducting experimental work with 1st year students, the purpose of which is to diagnose and reveal the leadership potential of students.
