Potensi Trichoderma sp. Asal Tanah Gambut Sebagai Agensia Pengendali Biologi Jamur Patogen Terbawa Benih Padi

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Padi (Oryza sativa) merupakan tanaman pangan penting kedua di dunia setelah gandum. Di Indonesia lebih dari 90% penduduknya mengkonsumsi beras, dengan jumlah ketergantungan yang sangat tinggi sehingga padi mempunyai nilai penting bagi penduduk Indonesia. Namun demikian, hal tersebut belum diikuti dengan ketersediaan benih sehat karena banyak jamur patogen terbawa benih padi, seperti jamur Rhizopus sp., Mucor sp., Aspergillus sp., Fusarium sp., Curvularia sp. Perlakuan benih (seed treatment) menggunakan fungisida sintetik merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mengendalikan jamur patogen pada benih pada tetapi berdampak negatif terhadap benih, manusia dan lingkungan. Alternatif pengendalian yang aman adalah penggunaan agensia hayati yaitu jamur Trichoderma sp. yang diisolasi dari lahan gambut dan mempunyai mekanisme antibiosis. Tujuan penelitian untuk mempelajari potensi jamur Trichoderma sp. asal tanah gambut sebagai agensia pengendali biologi jamur patogen terbawa benih padi (Oryza sativa) menggunakan uji kesehatan benih metode inkubasi menggunakan media Potato Dekstrosa Agar (PDA) dan metode growing on test. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan faktor 2 isolat Trichoderma sp. dan 8 ulangan dan analisa data menggunakan BNJ5%. Hasil: hasil isolasi diperoleh 2 isolat Trichoderma sp. (P1 dan P2), dua isolat Trichoderma sp. (P1 dan P2) mampu menekan tingkat infeksi jamur patogen terbawa benih padi pada metode inkubasi inkubasi menggunakan media PDA dan metode growing on test, 3.75%, dua isolat Trichoderma sp. mampu meningkatkan daya kecambah benih padi masing-masing sebesar P1 (12,50%) dan P2 (31,25%).
