Abstract

The development of knowledge economy demands the awareness of its requires and the rapid adaptation processes of the individual and organizational behavior. The importance of continuing education is one of the elements highlighted in the current context. However, its implementation at the individual level remains a goal yet hardly feasible. Based on labor market needs, individuals tend to counteract the needs raised by means of a personal assessment and evaluation criteria, leading to involuntary passage of continuing education to a secondary level. This paper aims to develop a conceptual model that highlights behavioral processes occurring at the individual level when adopting the decision to accept or reject the need for continuing education. The model proposes a new approach to human resources management with numerous implications.
