Eficiencia en entidades bancarios. El caso argentino 2004 – 2016

Abstract

El presente trabajo plantea un análisis de eficiencia en el sector bancario argentino utilizando las técnicas de Envolvente de Datos y Análisis de Frontera Estocástica. Se utilizan datos de 35 entidades correspondientes al período 2004-2016. Los resultados indican que, en promedio, los bancos son más eficientes adoptando un perfil más transaccional. Dicha eficiencia aumenta considerablemente entre 2004 y 2010 aunque desde 2010 la eficiencia técnica se ha estancado. Finalmente, existe una baja asociación entre el ordenamiento de entidades obtenido mediante la aplicación de las técnicas mencionadas y el que surge de los informes del Banco Central de la República Argentina, permitiendo inferir que los resultados obtenidos no son redundantes y podrían enriquecer dicho análisis.
