The mechanism of spreading thematic villages in Poland

Abstract

Since 1997, more and more theme villages have been appearing in Poland, which base their development on a chosen guiding idea (e.g. craft, fairy tale, product). The idea for such an activity came from Austria and Germany and was initially implemented thanks to grants from several foundations, and then EU funds. The idea of ​​theme villages spread partly in an organized manner (development plans, activation programs), and partly spontaneously (by imitating villages located in the vicinity). The involvement of the promoter of this idea and the handbook he created had a significant impact on the spread of the village idea.
