Abstract

This paper discusses the insecurity of public transport, especially in the relation of these means of transport with the performance of higher education students. The insecurity experienced in public transport is a problem constantly highlighted by graduate students, who are vulnerable to criminal actions during their commute between home and university. That said, the research is dedicated to analyzing how crime in this means of transportation can impact the performance of those students. In the meantime, online data collection was carried out, producing a sample composed of 429 respondents. Thus, based on the results, a logistic regression model was created seeking to describe the impacts on the academic performance of students. Therefore, the results indicate that variables such as frequency of use, travel time, fatigue and violence suffered in public transport are factors capable of affecting the daily activities of students, as well as their performance in studies.
