Abstract

Apart from delivering the fetus, medication-assisted hypertension control is the most common treatment for PE. There are numerous options available and oral antihypertensives can be used in standard doses during pregnancy. Methyldopa has been shown to be safe for the fetus in the treatment of high blood pressure in pregnant women over a lengthy period of time. In terms of safety and efficacy, clonidine acts similarly to and is comparable to methyldopa. During pregnancy, β-blockers are also frequently used. Labetalol preserves uteroplacental blood flow better than other β-blockers.
