Abstract

Phytochemicals become more popular as they act as an antioxidant, stimulate the immune system and thought to be largely responsible for the protective health benefits. This chapter dealt with photochemistry techniques generally tinted on the analytical procedures, including the extraction approaches of bioactive compounds present in the plant extracts. Techniques in Photochemistry involve the quantitative and qualitative methods of phytochemicals isolation and detection. Phytochemical techniques included chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques of Thin Layer Chromatography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography, Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry.
