"Von A bis Z" - 25 wichtige Umweltbücher

Abstract

[Vorwort:] Kann man mit Büchern die Umwelt retten - oder wenigstens Teile von ihr? Viele (die meisten) Autoren glauben daran. Das ist jedoch generell eine nicht zu beantwortende Frage, weil der Nachweis der effektiven Wirkung eines Buches nur schwer zu erbringen ist. Eines aber ist sicher: Gäbe es nicht so viele (gute) Bücher über Stand und Belastung der Umwelt und über die darauf bezogene Umweltpolitik, dann ginge es der natürlichen Umwelt noch weit schlechter als es tatsächlich der Fall ist. In einer ersten Serie wurden 100, in einer zweiten Serie 20 und im Folgenden weitere 25 Umweltbücher vorgestellt, deren Wahrnehmung und ausführliche Rezension mir wichtig erschienen. Einige dieser Bücher sind generell und global in ihrem Anspruch, andere eher speziell, auf einzelne Regionen oder bestimmte Naturelemente gerichtet. Doch sie sind alle ganz besondere Werke aus Sicht ihrer Autoren - wie auch der des Rezensenten. Um dem Leser/der Leserin die eigene Beurteilung der ausgewählten Bücher zu belassen, sind sie hier nicht nach Themen oder Schwerpunkten sortiert, sondern schlicht nach dem Alphabet der Autorennamen. Zur Lektüre empfohlen - die folgenden Rezensionen und die (oder zumindest einige der) betreffenden Bücher.
