Fusionen im genossenschaftlichen FinanzVerbund: Eine erfolgreiche Strategie?

Abstract

Vielfältige Herausforderungen kennzeichnen den Bankensektor seit Jahren und resultieren in einem intensiven Wettbewerb, dem sich die einzelnen Banken gegenübersehen. Strukturelle Veränderungen der Marktgegebenheiten sowie technologische und regulative Entwicklungen sind typische Rahmenbedingungen, die Unternehmen zu organisatorischen Weichenstellungen anregen. Dies zeigen die vergangenen Jahrzehnte, losgelöst von einzelnen Branchen. Es sind nicht nur Fusionen, die zu solchen Weichenstellungen zählen. Die Verwirklichung von Kooperations- und Outsourcing-Modellen stellen alternative strategische Optionen dar. Ein Urteil über die Überlegenheit einzelner Strategien setzt die Prüfung zahlreicher einschlägiger Kriterien voraus. Die Banken des genossenschaftlichen FinanzVerbundes haben zahlreiche Erfahrungen mit Fusionen gemacht. Auch sie sehen sich aktuellen Herausforderungen gegenüber. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist es interessant, unterschiedliche Strategieoptionen zu vergleichen. Noch bevor eine solche Analyse unternommen werden soll, sichtet und untersucht Johannes Spandau in diesem IfG-Arbeitspapier die vorliegenden empirischen Studien zum Erfolg von Fusionen von Genossenschaftsbanken und vergleicht deren Ergebnisse. Die ersten Erkenntnisse werden in einer Folgearbeit noch vertieft untersucht und konkretisiert werden. Das Arbeitspapier stammt aus dem IfG-Forschungscluster III: Genossenschaftsstrategische Fragen.
