Wann Eltern Feierabend machen wollen

Abstract

Seit Jahren drängen verschiedene politische Akteure auf eine Flexibilisierung der gesetzlichen Arbeitszeitregelungen. Die Notwendigkeit einer Flexibilisierung der Arbeitszeit wird oftmals damit begründet, dass das bestehende Arbeitszeitgesetz Eltern daran hindere, sich abends nochmal bis 22 oder 23 Uhr an den Computer zu setzen und so eine gute Work-Life-Balance zu erreichen. Diese Argumentation ignoriert nicht nur die negativen Folgen von Arbeit am Abend bzw. in der Freizeit für die Beschäftigten selbst, sondern auch für ihre Partner*innen und die gesamte Familie. Darüber hinaus entspricht sie auch nicht den Wünschen von Beschäftigten im Allgemeinen und Eltern im Besonderen. Dies zeigt der vorliegende Policy Brief.
