Wie leben die Armen in Deutschland und Europa? Eine Auswertung der aktuellen Daten von Eurostat

Abstract

Laut aktuellen Daten der EU steigt die relative Einkommensarmut in der Bundesrepublik weiter. Den amtlichen Daten zufolge sind am aktuellen Rand 16,7 Prozent der Bevölkerung bzw. mehr als 13 Millionen Menschen in Deutschland von Armut bedroht. Der weitere Anstieg des sogenannten Armutsrisikos gegenüber dem Vorjahr geht auf den Anstieg der Altersarmut von 14,9 auf 16,3 Prozent und die Zunahme der Beschäftigungsarmut von 8,6 auf 9,9 Prozent zurück. Damit ist nun praktisch jeder zehnte Beschäftigte von Armut bedroht. Zweifelsohne weisen viele Armutsgefährdete in Deutschland einen höheren Lebensstandard auf als ein Großteil der Bevölkerung in den ärmsten Ländern der EU. Allerdings lebt auch hierzulande jeder Zwanzigste in großem Mangel. Immerhin 13,3 Prozent der Armutsgefährdeten können ihre Wohnung nicht angemessen warm halten und 19,4 Prozent von ihnen haben mit Schimmel oder Feuchtigkeit in ihrer Unterkunft zu kämpfen. Diese Zahlen zeigen, wie wichtig die Einführung des Mindestlohns für Deutschland war.
