Abstract

Vor einem Jahr rief die Generalversammlung der Vereinten Nationen (UN) eine 'Decade of Action für die 2030-Agenda und die Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung aus. Der Ausbruch der Covid-19-Pandemie zwang die UN, ihre Planungen für 2020 anzupassen. UN-Generalsekretär António Guterres reagierte bereits im März mit einem Bericht, der die 2030-Agenda zur 'Roadmap' aus der Pandemie erklärte. Konflikte unter den UN-Mitgliedstaaten behinderten hingegen zunächst eine rasche Reaktion der Generalversammlung und des Sicherheitsrats. Seit Mitte März wird überwiegend in digitalen Formaten gearbeitet, das galt selbst für die Eröffnung der 75. Generalversammlung durch die Staats- und Regierungschefs. Welche Leistungsfähigkeit beweist die Weltorganisation im Jahr der Pandemie, insbesondere mit Blick auf das im Kontext der 2030-Agenda entwickelte neue Leitmotiv 'Build Back Better'?
