Terror gegen die Taliban: Der Islamische Staat zeigt in Afghanistan neue Stärke

Abstract

Seit dem US-Abzug im August 2021 und der Machtübernahme durch die Taliban hat der IS-Ableger 'Provinz Khorasan' in Afghanistan Dutzende Anschläge auf 'Sicherheitskräfte' der Taliban und Zivilisten ausgeführt, die Hunderte Todesopfer forderten. Besonders viele Attentate verübte der IS in seiner alten Hochburg Nangarhar im Osten des Landes und in der Hauptstadt Kabul. Doch auch in Kandahar, Kunduz und Kunar wurden die Jihadisten aktiv. Die Angriffe belegen, welche enorme Herausforderung der IS für die Taliban darstellt. Letzteren fehlt es an Geld, Personal und Strukturen, um ganz Afghanistan effektiv zu kontrollieren und den IS entscheidend zu schwächen. Diese Defizite bergen auch die Gefahr, dass der IS seine Anschlagstätigkeit über Afghanistan hinaus ausweitet. Die Nachbarstaaten Pakistan, Iran, Usbekistan und Tadschikistan sind besonders gefährdet, doch könnte auch Europa zum Ziel werden.
