Der deutsche Kampfhubschrauber "Tiger" steht vor dem Aus: Aktuelle Handlungsmöglichkeiten der Bundesregierung

Abstract

Im Jahr 2017 haben Deutschland und Frankreich eine mögliche Weiterentwicklung des Kampfhubschraubers 'Tiger' in Aussicht gestellt. Dieses Projekt ist Teil einer größeren deutsch-französischen Initiative, mit der Paris und Berlin ihr gemeinsames Engagement im Dienste einer Stärkung der militärischen Handlungsfähigkeit Europas unterstreichen wollen. Ende Dezember 2021 haben sich Frankreich und Spanien auf eine gemeinsame Weiterentwicklung geeinigt und Deutschland eingeladen, bis Mitte 2022 zu gleichen Bedingungen beizutreten. Diese Entscheidung zeigt, dass Frankreich jetzt bereit ist, Rüstungsprojekte ohne Deutschland voranzubringen. Damit steigt der Druck auf die Bundesregierung. Sollte sich Berlin aus dem Vorhaben zurückziehen wollen, könnte dies Auswirkungen auf die gesamte deutsch-französische Rüstungskooperation haben. Drei Reaktionsmöglichkeiten sind vorstellbar: ein Beitritt und damit der Beginn der Modernisierung des Tigers, der Kauf US-amerikanischer Maschinen und eine Ergänzungs- bzw. Übergangslösung aus europäischer Produktion. Die neue Bundesregierung sollte für sich zügig entscheiden, wo im Spannungsfeld zwischen politischen Zielen, finanziellen Herausforderungen und industriellen Interessen die Prioritäten liegen, um die militärischen Fähigkeiten zumindest zu erhalten.
