Operation Barkhane im Sahel: Umrisse einer veränderten französischen Interventionspolitik

Abstract

Frankreich steht im Begriff, seinen Interventionskurs im Sahel zu ändern. Nach einem Mini-Aufwuchs von 600 zusätzlichen Soldaten seit Februar 2020 wird die Antiterror-Operation Barkhane wahrscheinlich auf das vorherige Niveau zurückgeführt werden. Mittelfristig sind weitere Reduzierungen möglich. Auch politisch kommt Bewegung in die französische Sahelpolitik, weil Paris ein Gleichgewicht anstrebt zwischen einem geringeren militärischen Fußabdruck, Terrorismusbekämpfung und größerer lokaler Verantwortung.
