Der Aufstieg Chinas und das neue strategische Konzept der Nato: Prioritäten setzen - Platz definieren - Partnerschaften vertiefen

Abstract

Chinas weltpolitischer Aufstieg erschüttert regional wie global etablierte Macht­verhältnisse und stellt westliche Ordnungsvorstellungen zunehmend in Frage. Auch die Nato sieht sich mit der Notwendigkeit konfrontiert, sich mit den von China aus­gehenden Herausforderungen zu beschäftigen. Wie die Allianz diese Bedrohungen angehen sollte, wird unter ihren Mitgliedern jedoch unterschiedlich bewertet. China wird ein neuer Schwerpunkt des nächsten strategischen Konzepts der Nato sein, das beim Gipfel im Juni 2022 in Madrid verabschiedet werden wird. Dabei sollte die Nato für sich einen Platz innerhalb des Gefüges euro-atlantischer Institutionen definieren, sodass mögliche Aktivitäten des Bündnisses gegenüber China Wirkung entfalten, Maßnahmen anderer Organisationen aber nicht dupliziert werden.
