Indiens stabile Partnerschaft mit Russland: Die Beziehungen Neu-Delhis zu Moskau basieren auf Interessen und Grundvertrauen

Abstract

Beim BRICS-Gipfel im russischen Kasan kam es diesen Oktober einmal mehr zur innigen Umarmung zwischen dem indischen Premierminister Narendra Modi und Russlands Machthaber Wladimir Putin. Seit im Februar 2022 die russische Vollinvasion in der Ukraine begonnen hat, gelten die engen Beziehungen zwischen Neu-Delhi und Moskau im Westen als Hindernis für eine internationale Isolation des Aggressorstaats. Doch haben die Bemühungen westlicher Staaten, Indiens Abhängigkeit von Russland durch eigene Initiativen zu reduzieren, nur durchwachsene Ergebnisse erzielt. Insbesondere Indiens rasant ansteigende Importe von günstigem russischem Rohöl verdeutlichen, dass Neu-Delhi gegenüber Moskau primär eigene Interessen verfolgt. Indien sieht in Russland einen vertrauenswürdigen Partner, weshalb die deutsche Indien-Politik sich nicht der falschen Hoffnung hingeben sollte, das Land werde sich von Russland abwenden.
