Abstract

Standortvergleiche sind seit Jahren in Mode und Ausdruck der generellen Tendenz einer zunehmend evidenzbasierten Entscheidungsfindung. Der vorliegende Beitrag dokumentiert das Vorgehen und die Ergebnisse des Benchmarking der Hansestadt Stralsund. Hierzu wurde ein Vergleich mit den drei Städten Greifswald, Wismar und Lübeck vorgenommen. Aus Sicht von Stralsund zeigt sich sowohl Licht als auch Schatten. Den besonderen Stärken im Tourismus und Wohnortattraktivität stehen große Schwächen in Bezug auf die Präsenz in wissensintensiven Branchen gegenüber. Die jüngsten Veränderungen sprechen dafür, dass sich dieses Muster zunehmend erhärtet und Stralsund im Schatten der Wissens- und Gründungshochburg Greifswald steht.
