Abstract

Vom 17.-20. Oktober 2016 versammelten sich Vertreter von fast 200 UN-Mitgliedstaaten in Quito zur Habitat III-Konferenz. Sie verabschiedeten die Neue Urbane Agenda (NUA), ein nicht-verbindliches Rahmendokument, das Stadtentwicklung mit Nachhaltigkeit verbindet. Auch wenn die NUA die in sie gesetzten Erwartungen als eine auf Umsetzung ausgerichtete Agenda nicht erfüllt, kann sie für Kommunen und Regionen dennoch relevant sein, argumentieren Michael Woodbridge und Monika Zimmermann im Global Governance Spotlight 7|2016. Sie zeigen aber auch auf, wie lokale Akteure jenseits der NUA ihren Beitrag zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung leisten können.
